This amazing building began as Stuard's Opera House and Stoltz Mercantile Co., in the late 1800s. In the 1950s, the Fortner family repurposed it into Fortner Auto Supply and repair shop. It closed in the 1990s and sat vacant until 2020, when it was purchased by Allison Meade.
Since the property sat vacant for about 30 years, it needed a lot of love. Allison and her friends got to work on cleanup, and repurposed a house on the property into living quarters. Many events have taken place here in the last 4 years, including vintage sales, to raise money for the renovation of the space.
The future of Fort Buffalo is a diverse marketplace with health and sustainability in mind. A unique and artistic space, we aim to pay homage to the building's past.
We hope to host local food vendors, a general store with locally made products, a flower shop, and more. We also plan to host live music and be a community hub for all to enjoy. Fort Buffalo is being built by the community,
for the community.
